Men's Track Individuals See Success At Sea Ray Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 15, 2006) - The University of Connecticut men's track and field team saw great individual success at the 40th Sea Ray Relays, held on the campus of the University of Tennessee, over the weekend. The meet did not have any team scoring.
Freshman Marquis Thomas (Mattapan, Mass.) led the Huskies with a second place finish in the high jump open with a distance of 2.05m. Sophomore Steve Iannaccone (Toms River, N.J.) had UConn's second top-10 finish with a seventh place showing in the 800m open in a time of 1:51.10. The third UConn top-10 came in the distance medley relay, when the UConn team finished fourth with a time of 10:03.12.
Junior Sean Berg (Mystic, Conn.) tied for 13th in the pole vault open event in a distance of 4.75m. Also in the 800m, freshman Brian Gagnon (Lowell, Mass.) was 40th with a time of 1:55.33.
In the shot put open competition, sophomore Andrew Dubs (Holland, Pa.) finished 11th with a throw of 15.75m. Also competing at the Relays was junior Kelechi Ndu (Ashford, Conn.), who finished 20th in the 100m open with a time of 10.56 seconds.
The Huskies will be in action next on Saturday, April 22 when they play host to the second UConn Invitational of the season at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m.
