Swimming Wraps Up Weekend at U.S. Open
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (December 2, 2006) – The University of Connecticut topped off its weekend at the U.S. Open held at Purdue University on Saturday.
Katie DeVinney (Avondale, Ariz.) took 39th place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:21.68.
In the 200 breaststroke Nick Acquavito (Freeport, N.Y.) clocked in at 2:29.03 good enough for 35th place in that event.
Tristan Jones (Canberra, Australia) took 66th place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.26.
In the 400 freestyle relay the team of DeVinney, Sarah Kearns (Milford, Mass.), Danielle Sanders (Mississauga, Ontario) and Lisa Shelps (Quakertown, Pa.) finished 28th with a time of 4:08.27.
The men’s 400 freestyle relay Jones and Acqavito were joined by Nick Conrad (Olney, Md.) and Sean Hannan (Clifton Park, N.Y.). The group placed 26th with a time of 3:48.18.
The Huskies will return to action when they travel on their annual training trip scheduled from January 2-15. Swimming will head to Puerto Rico, while diving will go to Hawaii.
