STORRS, Conn. (December 1, 2006) —The University of Connecticut men’s track and field team has selected seniors Jake Radzevich (Hampstead, N.H.) and Aaron Isaacs (Danbury, Conn.) as team captains for the 2006-07 season as announced Friday by head coach Greg Roy.
Radzevich enters the 2006-07 campaign as the Huskies unquestioned leader in the pole vault. During the indoor season a year ago, Radzevich won five consecutive meets and finished the season with seven top-five finishes. He put the finishing touches on the indoor season by earning All-BIG EAST accolades with a second place finish at the BIG EAST Championships.
Radzevich continued his stellar season in the outdoor portion of the schedule, claiming three first place finishes, and a total of six top-five finishes. For the second time of the season, Radzevich was again named All-BIG EAST for his efforts in the pole vault.
Isaacs experienced similar success as a junior and is expected to bring a wealth of talent and experience into his final season as the Huskies’ key thrower. Last season, Isaacs earned four top-five finishes during the indoor season, including a second place finish at the BIG EAST Championships to earn All-BIG EAST plaudits.
Isaacs went on to claim four different meets during the outdoor season, while finishing the year with a total of nine top-10 finishes. He ended the season falling just short of being named All-BIG EAST as he finished fourth with a career-best distance of 55.37 meters.
Radzevich, Isaacs and the Huskies open the indoor season Jan. 6 as they take part in the Alumni Invitational from Storrs.
