Men's Golf Earns Seventh Place Finish At ECAC Championship

CHARLESTON, R.I. (October 16, 2006) — The University of Connecticut men’s golf team picked up a seventh place finish as the Huskies shot a two-round score of 624 (311-313) Sunday afternoon at the ECAC Championship.
Rhode Island captured the title as the Rams shot a two-round score of 602 (295-307), 11 strokes ahead of Boston College (302-311) and Sacred Heart University (304-309).
Boston College and Sacred Heart tied for second with a score of 613, while Hartford finished fourth with 615 (308-307) followed in fifth place by Central Connecticut with 618 (306-312).
Rhode Island’s Jesse Larson won the individual event with a two-round score of 146 (74-72). The Rams also featured the second place finisher as Ben Spitz tied for second with rounds of 69 and 79 for a total score of 148.
Jason Parajeckas (Woburn, Mass.) paced the Huskies in the tournament as the senior tied for sixth place with a total score of 151 (73-78). His sixth place finish marks the fifth consecutive tournament in which he placed in the Top-10 among all participants.
Junior A.J. Sierskierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) finished second on the Huskies and tied for 19th overall with a two-round score of 155 (78-77.) Not far behind, L.J. Tosches (Grafton, Mass.) tied for 28th place after firing identical rounds of 79, wrapping up his competition with a score of 158.
Tied for 36th place overall, Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) finished fourth on the Huskies with a total score of 160 (81-79). Rounding out the Huskies’ participation in the tournament, Daniel White (Westford, Mass.) ended the afternoon tied for 57th place, shooting rounds of 86 and 85 for an end result of 171.
UConn returns to the course Oct. 23-24 when the Huskies take part in the NEIGA Championship from Brewster, Mass.
