Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The University of Connecticut women’s soccer team fell to the Eagles of Boston College 2-0 in exhibition play on Sunday. This was the final pre-season exhibition game for the Huskies before the regular season begins on Friday, August 26, against Hofstra in the Penn State Tournament.
The Eagles took control of the game early and never looked back. The Huskies managed only three shots on goal throughout the game, two of which came from senior Kathleen Frank (Lansing, Mich.), and freshman Elizabeth Eng (Chicago, Ill.) shot the third.
The goalkeeping effort for Connecticut was split between redshirt-freshman Stephanie Labbe (Stony Plain, Alberta) and senior Megan Jessee (Orefield, Pa.). They combined to save five of the Eagles’ seven shots on goal. Labbe allowed one goal in her time between the pipes in the first half on the game. At the 24:15 mark, BC's Kia McNeill shot the ball into the far post from five yards out off an assist from Maddie Johnson. At the start of the second half, McNeill headed the ball to teammate Caitlin Hiler who fired the ball into the far right corner and past Jessee.
