Thomas Takes Third in Decathlon at Texas Relays
Qualifies for NCAA Regionals
AUSTIN, Texas (April 7) – University of Connecticut men’s track and field senior Will Thomas (South Kingstown, R.I.) finished third out of fourteen competitors in the decathlon at the 78th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays held on the campus of the University of Texas this Wednesday and Thursday. Thomas’ total of 7,552 points in the event automatically qualifies him for the NCAA Regionals.
Thomas won the shot put portion of the decathlon, putting 15.20m (49-10.50) and also won the high jump, clearing 2.07m (6-09.50). He finished third in the long jump, discus throw and 1,500 meter run with marks of 6.67m (21-10.75), 41.72m (136-10) and 4:54.74, respectively.
The Huskies return to action this Saturday, April 9, when the team will play host to the UConn Invitational, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
