Huskies' Distance Runners Highlight Third UConn Invitational
STORRS, Conn. (April 30) – The University of Connecticut men’s track and field team hosted the third UConn Invitational on Saturday at the George J. Sherman Family-Sports Complex. While there was no team scoring in the meet, the Huskies’ distance runners enjoyed individual success, winning three events.
Sophomore Max Feldman (Easton, Conn.) took first in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:56.34, senior Pat Blake (Lebanon, Conn.) won the 5,000-meter run in 15:02.32 and freshman Colin Meyer (West Seneca, N.Y.) captured the top spot in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:35.55.
UConn’s other individual winner of the day was senior Michael Delgado (Bridgewater, Mass.) who came in first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.04. Behind Delgado, senior Will Thomas (South Kingstown, R.I.) placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.68. Thomas also performed well in the field events, finishing second in the discus and shot put with marks of 43.17m (141-08) and 15.44m (50-08.00), respectively.
The Huskies next travel to Piscataway, N.J., on May 6-8, to compete in the BIG EAST Championship.
