Olsen and Smith Receive Atlantic Hockey
All-Conference Honors
STORRS, Conn. (March 17) – Two members of the University of Connecticut men’s hockey team were honored with Atlantic Hockey All-Conference awards, the league announced Thursday evening. Senior captain Tim Olsen (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) was named Atlantic Hockey All-Conference first team and freshman goaltender Brad Smith (Detroit, Mich.) was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie team.
Olsen led UConn in scoring for the 2004-05 season as he totaled 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points. In his final game as a Husky, he tallied an assist for his 100th career point, becoming just the second player in program Division I history to reach the 100-point plateau. Olsen was named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week twice during 2004-05.
Smith posted a 3.71 goals against average with an .898 save percentage over 18 games in net as he picked up three wins his freshman season. Smith earned Goaltender of the Week honors on Oct., 11, after he made his first career appearance in net against Rensselaer in relief of an injured Scott Tomes (Windham, N.H.) and made 24 saves to earn credit for the 3-3 tie in the contest.
