Four Huskies Named to NSCAA Regional Teams

KINGSTON, R.I. (December 14, 2005) - Four members of the University of Connecticut women's soccer team were named to 2005 Northeast Regional Teams by the local division of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Sophomore Meghan Schnur (Butler, Pa.) and junior Niki Cross (Pembroke, Mass.) were named to the All-Northeast First Team while Elizabeth Eng (Chicago, Ill.) and Brittany Taylor (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) were named to the All-Northeast Second Team.
Schnur was recently named to the NEWISA All-New England Second Team and was also named to the 2005 BIG EAST All-First Team. This season she tallied three goals and six assists adding to her career statistics for a total of eight goals, 15 assists and 31 points. Schnur spent the 2004 season playing for the U.S. National team.
Cross, a solid performer over her last three years, was recognized for her breakout performance at the end of the season. Cross scored five goals for the Huskies and assisted on one for a total of 11 points. She was also named to the All-BIG EAST second team for her efforts this season.
Eng, who was also recently named to the NEWISA All-New England second team and also to the All-BIG EAST First Team. Eng netted six goals and five assists for a total of 17 points. She was also twice named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.
Taylor scored eight goals and passed for one assist for a total of 17 points during the 2005 standout. Taylor was also recognized this season as a Soccer Buzz Rookie of the Year finalist, an All-BIG EAST First Team honoree and a NEWISA All-New England Second Team award winner.
