Huskies Fall To No. 1 St. Lawrence, 6-1

CANTON, N.Y. (November 25) - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team fell to No. 1 St. Lawrence, 6-1, on Friday afternoon in Appleton Arena. With the loss, the Huskies slip to 4-8-0 overall while St. Lawrence remains unbeaten with a 10-0-2 mark on the season.
Carson Duggan started the scoring for St. Lawrence, taking a pass from Sabrina Harbec by way of Lisa Batchelor to score at the 5:52 mark in the first period. Following a hooking penalty on Batchelor, the Huskies answered at the 9:22 mark, when sophomore Liz Gallinaro (Amherst, Mass.) tied the score at 1-1. She was assisted by sophomore Jaclyn Hawkins (Manotick, Ontario) on the play. It was all Saints from there on out, as Duggan scored once more and picked up an assist for a three point game. Harbec also scored once and had three other assists for a five point afternoon.
The Huskies amassed just 17 shots on goal to St. Lawrence's 35. UConn was 1-for-3 on the power play while the Saints were 2-for-4 with the man advantage.
Senior Kaitlyn Shain (Calgary, Alberta) had 29 saves while giving up six goals to take the loss. She is now 4-7-0 on the season. Jessica Moffat had 16 saves for the Saints.
The two teams will square off again on Saturday, Nov. 26. The game will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Appleton Arena.
