Women's Tennis Completes Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, Conn. (Sept. 26) - The University of Connecticut women's tennis completed the three-day Quinnipiac Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 26 with mixed results. The Huskies were unable to advance past the quarterfinals in either singles or doubles competition.
Two Huskies won their opening matches during the round of 16. Whitney Simcik topped Quinnipiac's Tina Hoang, 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 in Flight A Singles action while teammate Ashley Petruzzi defeated Chelsea Mills of Bucknell, 6-1, 6-1 in Flight C to both advance to the quarterfinals.
In quarterfinal play, Simcik fell to Viviana Figueroroa of Seton Hall, 6-1, 6-3, and Petruzzi was unable to get past Rutgers' Angela Duisic, losing 7-5, 6-3.
