Men's Golf Places Fifth at The McLaughlin

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (September 25, 2004) - Jason Parajeckas and Jordan Burke tied for 16th overall to lead the University of Connecticut men’s golf team to a fifth place finish out of a good nine-team field at The McLaughlin, hosted by St. John’s at the par-70 Bethpage Red on Long Island. The Huskies shot a three-round 887 to finish one stroke out of fourth place. Maryland won the event with a score of 853. For the second straight week, UConn topped some BIG EAST squads as Villanova (6th, 888) and Seton Hall (9th, 911) placed behind the Huskies.
Burke and Parajeckas each turned in a three-round score of 221 (+11) to lead UConn. Justin Ciombor turned in the team’s low round for the event with a opening round 70 on Friday, but finished the event third for the Huskies and 30th overall with a 226 (+16). Michael Hornung was fourth for UConn and 31st overall just a stroke Ciombor with a 227 (+17).
The Huskies travel to West Point, N.Y. next weekend for the Mule Kicker Classic at the U.S. Military Academy.
