Hurlburt Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

STORRS, CT (March 9) – Leslie Hurlburt’s (Markham, Ontario) hat-trick on Sunday has earned her recognition as the Hockey East Rookie of the week as announced by the league office on Monday. Hurlburt scored all three of the University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey teams goals in the Huskies 4-3 loss to Maine in each teams regular season finale.
Hurlburt concluded the season with nine goals and three assists and was the Huskies third-leading scorer with 12 points. Her nine goals were tied for second most on the team and her shot percentage of .214 was a team best as she needed only 42 shots to record her nine goals.
The Huskies came into the final weekend of play needing a win and a tie against Maine to qualify for the Hockey East Tournament, but UConn dropped a 5-1 decision on Saturday to be eliminated from contention.
