Huskies Sweep Visiting New Hampshire, 7-0

STORRS, CT (March 30) - The University of Connecticut women’s tennis team made quick work of visiting New Hampshire on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Wildcats by a score of 7-0. The win improves UConn’s overall record to 5-7 on the season.
The doubles pair of Whitney Simcik (Exeter, Pa.) and Barbara Schumsky (West Hartford, Conn.) did not drop a single game en route to winning 8-0 at the No. 2 spot. Simcik also took a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, and Schumsky won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles spot.
Jen LoRusso (Shoreham, N.Y.) and Ashley Petruzzi (Bradenton, Fla.) each dropped only four games in their singles matches, as LoRusso won 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot, and Petruzzi won by the same score at the No. 6 position.
UConn will return to action on Saturday, April 3 when they travel to Georgetown for a dual match.
