San Francisco Edges Huskies, 4-3

EAST HARTFORD, CT (March 16) - Junior Jen LoRusso (Shoreham, N.Y.) was a double winner for the Huskies, but ultimately the University of Connecticut women’s tennis team was edged 4-3 by the University of San Francisco on Tuesday afternoon in East Hartford, Conn.
San Francisco improves to 8-3 on the season with the win, while UConn drops to 2-7 with the loss.
LoRusso pulled out a solid 6-1, 6-4 victory over Megan Tiegs at the No. 2 singles spot, and teamed with junior Barbara Schumsky (West Hartford, Conn.) for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Freshman Alison Adamski (Jamaica Estates, N.Y.) fought through a three-set match to defeat Joana Laranjihna 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, and freshmen Ashley Petruzzi (Bradenton, Fla.) was the final winner for UConn with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6 doubles. Schumsky took her No. 3 singles match to three sets, but was defeated in the final two.
UConn will return to action when they travel to Seton Hall for a 2:30 p.m. match on Friday, March 26.
