Huskies Earn Postseason Honors

STORRS, Conn. (Dec. 17) - Various members of the University of Connecticut women's soccer team have earned postseason honors for the 2004 season. Five Huskies were named All-New England and four earned NSCAA/adidas All-Northeast Region.
Kristen Graczyk (Albuquerque, N.M.), a semifinalist for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy awarded to the nation's top player, received NSCAA/adidas Third Team All-America honors and was also named First Team NSCAA/adidas All-Northeast Region as well as First Team All-New England. The senior co-captain started in all 26 games and led UConn in scoring for the fourth time in her career with 34 points. She also finished her career leading the team in goals all four seasons, finishing with a team-high 12, six of which were game winners, in 2004. She was the only Husky to tally double-digit numbers in assists with 10.
Fellow senior co-captain Zahra Jalalian (Auburn, Wash.) earned First Team honors in All-Northeast Region and All-New England. Often called upon to defend the opponent's most threatening offensive player, Jalalian anchored the UConn defense for most of her career. She limited the 2004 opposition to a 0.68 goals scored average and helped the Huskies tally 14 shutouts. She also contributed offensively with two goals and an assist for five points.
Senior Jessica Gjertsen (Stony Plain, Alberta) also garnered First Team All-Northeast Region and First Team All-New England accolades. Gjertsen finished second in team scoring with 24 points. She ranked second on the team in scoring with 11 goals, four of which were game winners. She also notched two assists while playing in 22 games.
Junior goalkeeper Megan Jessee (Orefield, Pa.) was named to the Second Team for both All-Northeast Region and All-New England. In her first year as UConn's go-to keeper, Jessee had a stellar performance with an 18-7-1 record. She was in net for all of UConn's 14 shutouts and recorded the second-longest shutout streak in school history at 775:49 over seven-plus games. Jessee recorded a 0.69 goals against average and .873 saves percentage.
Junior Alisse Kosloski (Wernersville, Pa.) was named First Team All-New England. The defender also helped UConn limit opponents to a 0.68 goals scored average while shutting out 14 teams. She started all 26 games and also notched her first career goal for two points on the year.
