STORRS, Conn. (Nov. 24) – The University of Connecticut women’s hockey team has signed Nicole Tritter and Samantha Reid to National Letters of Intent for the 2005-06 season as announced by head coach Heather Linstad on Wednesday. Both athletes are members of the Toronto Junior Aeros Intermediate AA team of the PWHL.
Tritter, a native of Toronto, Ont., is in her first season with the Intermediate AA team. She played with the Junior Aeros Midget team in 2003-04. A solid skater with who shoots right, Tritter will bring great overall athletic ability to the Huskies.
“Nicole is a strong forward with an unbelievable shot,” Linstad says. “She sees the ice well and has great feet. She’s a tough and scrappy player.”
Reid, a native of Innisfil, Ont., is in her second season with the Aeros Intermediate AA team. A defenseman who also shoots right, Reid sees the ice well and has the skills to be a future anchor for the UConn blueline.
"Samantha is a big and strong defenseman,” Linstad says. “She should be a major contributor from the blueline both offensively and defensively.”
