Jaclyn Hawkins Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. (Oct. 18) - Forward Jaclyn Hawkins was named ITECH Hockey East Rookie of the Week as announced by the Hockey East office on Monday, Oct. 18. The native of Manotick, Ontario collected her first UConn career point with an assist on the opening goal of the Friday, Oct. 16 game against No. 5 St. Lawrence. Hawkins added two goals for three points in her first collegiate game. She followed up that performance with another goal against the Saints Saturday afternoon, and now leads the team with four points.
UConn lost both games to St. Lawrence, but put up strong efforts both nights with the Saints edging out the Huskies by a single goal in both contests (6-5, Oct. 15 and 5-4, Oct. 16). Connecticut averaged only 1.78 goals last season, but have opened 2004-05 with an offensive outburst tallying nine goals in the opening series of the season.
The Huskies begin Hockey East conference play on Friday, Oct. 22 when they travel to Durham to face the No. 7 Wildcats of New Hampshire in a single game match-up.
