MIAMI, FL (September 26) – The University of Connecticut women’s soccer team dropped its BIG EAST Northeast Division opener, 3-1 Friday night to Miami in Coral Gables, FL. With the loss, UConn drops to 4-2-2 on the season and 0-1-0 in conference play, while Miami improves to 6-4-0, 1-0-0.
Lindsey Yach scored just 8:53 into the contest off an assist by TA Sheuneen to put the Hurricanes up for good at 1-0. Yach scored her second goal of the evening at 40:19.
UConn pulled to within one when Jessica Gjertsen (Stony Plain, Alberta) scored her eighth goal of the season off an assist from Kristen Graczyk (Albuquerque, NM). However, that was as close as the Huskies would get, and Miami’s Britney Butcher scored 11 minutes later to put the game out of reach.
