Huskies Sweep Hartford 7-0 in Season Opener

STORRS, CT (Sept. 17) - The University of Connecticut women’s tennis team swept their first match of the season by a score of 7-0 over in-state rival University of Hartford.
Whitney Simcik (Exeter, PA) took a win in No. 1 singles with a come-from-behind victory in three sets, and Simcik along with Alison Adamski (Jamaica Estates, NY) took an 8-3 win in No. 1 doubles. Jen LoRusso (Shoreham, NY) and Ashley Petruzzi (Bradenton, FL) both took convincing 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles spots, respectively.
The Huskies return to action when they travel to the Dartmouth Invitational from Sept. 19-21.
