UConn Athletes Compete at USATF Championships

PALO ALTO, CA (June 21) - The University of Connecticut men’s track and field team competes at the USA Track & Field Championships this week. Stanford University hosts the competition from June 19-22.
Paul Pisano (Toms River, NJ) finished 20th in the javelin throw on Saturday afternoon with a throw of 64.92 meters (213-0.00).
Sprinter Joe Mendel (Wayne, NJ) ran in the first round of the 400-meter dash on Thursday afternoon. Mendel finished in 20th place with a time of 46.74 seconds.
Multi-event athlete Will Thomas (Wakefield, RI) was scheduled to compete in the decathlon on Saturday and Sunday, but suffered an injury prior to the start of the events and withdrew from competition.
Marcus Siwemuke (Sierra Vista, AZ) competed in the junior 110 meter hurdles and finished with a time of 15.09 seconds in the preliminary round for 16th place.
