Mike James Named to All-Northeast Region Second Team

STORRS, CT (June 11, 2003) - The American Baseball Coaches Association(ABCA)/Rawlings All-Northeast Region Team selection committee announced the 2003 first and second team members on Wednesday. The head coaches that comprise the region first nominated and then voted on their choices. Those named to the first team now become All-America candidates, which will be selected by the Division I All-America Committee in Omaha, NE.
Representing the University of Connecticut on the second team was junior relief pitcher Mike James. James tied the UConn single season record for saves in 2003 with 11. He posted a team best 2.93 ERA over 30.2 innings. He led the team in a appearances with 24 and posted a 3-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio. James was recently drafted in the 50th round by the Montreal Expos.
