UConn Splits BIG EAST Matches

STORRS, CT - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team split a pair of BIG EAST matches over the weekend. The Huskies fell to Georgetown 4-2 on April 5, and defeated St. John's 4-2 on April 7. The split moves the Huskies record to 10-7 overall and 3-3 in the BIG EAST.
Against Georgetown, UConn fell behind early as they dropped two of the three doubles matches to allow the Hoyas the 1-0 lead. The Huskies did come back to win two singles matches by Jen LoRusso at the No. 4 spot and Colleen Connors at the No. 6 slot.
In the match against St. John's, the Huskies took four of six singles matches for the 4-2 victory. Winning singles matches were Whitney Simcik at No. 2, Barbara Schumsky at No.3, LoRusso at No. 4 and Connors at No. 6. The two teams did not play doubles do to the match already being decided.
