Huskies Slip Past New Mexico State, 1-0

LAS CRUCES, NM (March 20) – Mandy Schettini (Coxsackie, NY) scored the only run in UConn softball’s 1-0 win over New Mexico State at the NMSU Invitational on Thursday. The Huskies improve to 4-10-1 as the Aggies fall to 5-33 on the season.
Schettini reached first on a fielder’s choice and stole second base. She crossed the plate for the game-winning run after an error by New Mexico State’s third baseman.
Michelle Caouette (Wynantstkill, NY) recorded her first win as a Husky, pitching a no-hitter while striking out 11 batters. Anita Knight suffered the loss for NMSU, allowing six hits.
The Huskies will return to action at the New Mexico State Invitational on Friday, March 21. They will face Brigham-Young University and UT San Antonio at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. eastern, respectively.
