Huskies Hold on For Second at BIG EAST Championships

SYRACUSE, NY (February 23) - The University of Connecticut men’s track team came up short of defending its BIG EAST Indoor Championship title, finishing in second place with 101 points. Notre Dame finished first with 114 points over the two-day competition.
The Huskies came home with three individual event championships. The highlight of the weekend was Will Thomas’ (Wakefield, RI) second-consecutive title in the pentathlon. Thomas tallied 3960 points, breaking his own meet record and finishing first in three of the five events. Joe Mendel (Wayne, NJ) finished first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.68 seconds. The third title went to Mike Deibler (Monroe, NY) in the high jump with a height of 2.11 meters (6-11.00).
