STORRS, CT (October 30) -- The University of Connecticut women’s soccer team will meet Villanova in the BIG EAST Quarterfinal round on Sunday November 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Morrone Stadium in Storrs. With a 5-1-0 Conference record, the Huskies earned the Northeast Division’s #1 seed for the fifth consecutive time, while the Wildcats garnered the #4 seed in the Mid-Atlantic Division thanks to their 3-2-1 BIG EAST mark.
The Wildcats finished the season with an overall mark of 13-5-1 and are winners of three straight. Villanova is carried by its defense, as the Wildcats have not allowed more than one goal against since a 3-0 loss to North Carolina, and have shut out their last four opponents. The Huskies are on a roll as well though, having outscored their opponents 14-to-3 in the last four games. UConn is led by Kristen Graczyk (Albuquerque, NM) who has registered 14 goals and nine assists for 37 points. Graczyk recently moved into 10th place on both UConn’s all-time goals scored (39) and all-time points list (97).
Connecticut is the BIG EAST Tournament defending champion, and is the only school to qualify for the tournament in every year since its inception in 1993.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate or by calling the UConn Ticket Office at 1-877-AT-UCONN.
