Connecticut Competes at Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, CT (Sept. 29, 2002) - The University of Connecticut women’s tennis team competed Sat.-Sun., at the 2002 Quinnipiac Invitational. The Huskies won one doubles championship and placed one singles player and one other doubles team in the finals.
The Huskies were led by the team of sophomore Whitney Simcik (Exeter, PA) and freshman Jessica Shea (Beverly, MA) who won the No. 3 doubles. Seniors April Dixon (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) and Colleen Connors (Ormond Beach, FL) teamed together to reach the No. 2 doubles finals and individually both reached the semifinals in No. 3 singles. The only finalist in singles play for UConn was sophomore Jennifer LoRusso (Shoreham, NY). LoRusso lost in the finals of No. 2 singles
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 25, when they host UMass at 3:00 pm, at the UConn Tennis Courts.
