Baylock Honored By New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association

BOSTON, MA (June 7, 2002) - University of Connecticut head baseball coach Andy Baylock has been awarded the 2002 Distinguished Service Award as given by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association during its 28th annual All-Star game played at Fenway Park. The award is presented annually to an individual for outstanding contribution to college baseball.
This past season marked Baylock's 23rd at the helm of the Connecticut Baseball program as the Huskies finished the 2002 campaign with a 28-22 overall record and a 13-12 mark in the BIG EAST. The 2002 season also marked Baylock’s 38th year of consecutive service to the program. Prior to the start of his head coaching career, Baylock spent 15 years as the top assistant coach.
Baylock has posted a 532-469-8 record during his 23 seasons in charge of the UConn baseball program. When Baylock's assistant coaching tenure is taken into account, he has been part of an overall UConn record of 798-591-11 during the past 38 seasons. The New Britain, CT, native has personally coached 1,400 of the 2,280 games (61.4 percent) that have ever been played involving the University of Connecticut baseball program.
