Several Huskies In Action At USA Track and Field Championships

PALO ALTO, CALIF.- Four members of the University of Connecticut men’s track and field squad were in action at the 2002 USA Track and Field Senior and Junior Championships at Stanford University’s Cobb Track & Angell Field this past weekend.
The event marked the final time Dan Wilson and Elliott Blount competed for UConn as the two rewrote the middle distance record books during their careers. Wilson finished sixth in the senior 1500m with a time of 3:42.43. In doing so, Wilson qualified for the USA 25-and-under team. After winning his 800m trial with a time of 1:50.89, Blount advanced to the semifinals where he finished fifth in his heat with a time of 1:48.97. The top four finishers from each heat advanced to the finals.
Paul Pisano and Mark Godoy were also in action in the javelin and triple jump, respectively. Pisano finished 12th with a distance of 234’ 7" to establish a new school record. Godoy, who competed in the junior section of his event, finished eighth with a triple jump of 44’ 3 1/4".
