Four Huskies Honored With Academic Award

STORRS, CT (April 3, 2002) - Four University of Connecticut field hockey players received recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for their academic acheivements. Junior Colleen Burke (Southbury, CT) and freshmen Joy Domin (Gilford, NH), Kathryn Norton and Kirsty Slagter (Veldhoven, Netherlands) were named to the 2001 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.
Burke, the oldest Husky awarded the honor, started in all 17 UConn games this season at the midfield position with one assist. Slagter, also a midfielder, played in 14 of the Huskies 17 games, starting 11. She tallied two assists on the season.
