Barb Cook Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI (March 4, 2002) -- Junior pitcher Barb Cook has been named the BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week for her performance in the Golden Panther Invitational this past weekend.
In five games, Cook hit. 333 with a double and an RBI. She started every game at either pitcher or third base, and pitched two complete games. For her efforts, she received all-tournament honors.
For the entire season, Cook is leading the team with a .276 batting average and has a 2.80 ERA in the games she’s pitched. She has also tallied 25 strikeouts, including eight in the Huskies first win of the season over then-No. 24 Mississippi State.
UConn is idle this weekend, then returns to action on March 15-17 at the Missouri Invitational where the Huskies will face Iowa State, Loyola and host Missouri.
