Blount Tabbed ECAC Track Athlete of the Week

CENTERVILLE, MA (Feb. 21, 2002) -- After leading the University of Connecticut men's track and field team to its first team title in five years at the BIG EAST Indoor Championship, senior Elliott Blount (Freeport, NY) has been named ECAC Track Athlete of the Week.

Blount ran to victories in both the 500-meters and 800-meters with 1:03.19 and 1:52.10, respectively.  He was also a member of UConn's 4x800-meter relay squad, which broke a school record with 7:34.43 en route to a second-place finish.

For his efforts at the BIG EAST Championship, he garnered Men's Outstanding Track Performer honors at the conclusion of the meet.
