Murphy Receives More Hockey East Honors

STORRS, CT (Dec. 4) – The Hockey East Women’s League announced the November Honorees Tuesday afternoon. Each month, the league names a Player, Goaltender and Rookie of the Month.
UConn goaltender Shannon Murphy (Mapleville, RI) was named the Runner-Up Goaltender for the month of November. Murphy holds a 4-3 record, a 2.08 GAA and .925 save percentage. She has been honored by the league with two Defensive Player of the Week Awards. Chanda Gunn of Northeastern was given the Goaltender of the Month Award, while Jenn Butsch from Providence and Vicki Davis from New Hampshire were named Player and Rookie of the Month, respectively.
Connecticut returns to action this weekend when they play a pair of games against Hockey East rival New Hampshire. The Huskies travel to the Whittemore Center on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. and return to the UConn Ice Arena the following day to play host to the Wildcats at 2 p.m.
