CHESTNUT HILL, MA (Dec. 30) – In just her first game back with the team, Kim Berry (Haverhill, MA) of the University of Connecticut women’s hockey team proved her worth on the ice. Berry scored the team’s only goal as the Huskies and Eagles of Boston College skated to a 1-1 tie in the Hockey East matchup. UConn now holds a 6-9-2, 1-3-2 Hockey East record as the Eagles are 6-5-2, and winless in the league at 0-2-2.
The two teams remained scoreless for nearly 50 minutes until Berry scored her first with the Huskies in the 02-03 season. Credited with the assists were Caitlin Salazer-Reid (London, Ontario) and Tiffany Owens (Belleville, MI). Boston College’s Megan Scully answered back at 15:43 to knot the game at one and send the game into overtime. Neither team was able to seal the win and both teams earned a point in the Hockey East standings.
UConn’s Shannon Murphy (Mapleville, RI) stopped 19 in net for the Huskies, as BC goaltender Alison Quandt denied 32.
The Huskies return to action on Saturday and Sunday, January 4 and 5 when they travel to Niagara, NY to meet Niagara for a pair of games. Both games start at 3 p.m.
