Murphy Named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week

STORRS, CT (Dec. 2) – Sophomore goaltender Shannon Murphy (Mapleville, RI) was awarded the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors as chosen by league officials Monday afternoon.
Murphy made a total of 114 saves over three games on the week, including 45 in a 2-2 Hockey East tie vs. Providence and 47 in a loss at No. 2 ranked Harvard.
Connecticut returns to action this weekend when they play a pair of games against Hockey East rival New Hampshire. The Huskies travel to the Whittemore Center on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. and return to the UConn Ice Arena the following day to play host to the Wildcats at 2 p.m.
