Huskies Take Second Shutout From Quinnipiac

STORRS, CT (November 2) – The University of Connecticut women’s hockey team shutout Quinnipiac University, 2-0, at the UConn Ice Arena on Saturday night. The Huskies second shutout in two nights over the Bobcats improved UConn to 2-4 on the season, while Quinnipiac is winless at 0-4.
UConn took the 2-0 victory in the first period of play. Laura Stosky (Edmonton, Alberta) scored at the 8:44 mark on assists from Sara Mahoney (Lynn, MA) and Erika Spaeth (Dallas, TX). Angie Wallace (Mullett Lake, MI) put the Huskies up by two 1:32 later with help from Allison Oropallo (Niskayuna, NY). Through three periods of play, UConn out shot Quinnipiac, 34-22.
Shannon Murphy (Mapleville, RI) recorded 22 saves in net for UConn, taking her second shutout in as many nights, while QU’s Mel Courtemanche stopped 32 for the Bobcats.
Connecticut will travel to Matthews Arena in Boston, MA to take Northeastern in a Hockey East game on Saturday, November 9 at 2:00 pm.
