Men's Golf Finishes 16th at Adams Cup

NEWPORT, R.I. (October 9) – The University of Connecticut’s men’s golf team finished in 16th place with a score of 925 (+69) at the Adams Cup, an event hosted by Rhode Island at the Newport National Golf Club (first and second rounds) and the Newport Country Club (final round). Michigan State won the event with a 873 (+17) while Texas A&M placed second with a 876 (+20). The nationally-competitive field included schools from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and three each from the SEC and Conference USA.
UConn’s leading scorer was Mike Murphy who tied for 40th by shooting a 227 (+15). Justin Ciombor was tied for 56th overall with a 230 while Daniel Keefe was 81st with his 239 Adam Kolloff and Nate Thomsen both tied for 83rd with a score of 241. Kolloff posted one of UConn’s highlights on the young season by shooting a 71 today at the par-72 Newport Country Club, the team’s lowest single round score of the year. UConn had two previous rounds of 72 this fall.
The Huskies return to action on October 21-22 at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association’s tournament in Brewster, Mass.
