Men's Golf In Action at Adams Cup

NEWPORT, R.I. (October 8) – The University of Connecticut’s men’s golf team is in 17th place with a 38-over-par 318 after the first round of action at the Adams Cup, an event hosted by Rhode Island at the Newport National Golf Club. The second round was suspended due to darkness and will be completed early Wednesday morning. The third round will tee off soon thereafter at the Newport Country Club. Virginia Tech currently leads the event with a first round score of 293 (+13), followed closely by Georgia at 294 (+14). The nationally-competitive field includes schools from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and three each from the SEC and Conference USA.
UConn’s leading scorer was Mike Murphy who tied for 24th by shooting a five-over 75. Justin Ciombor was tied for 55th overall with a 79 while Daniel Keefe tied for 75th with his 81 and Adam Kolloff rounded out the UConn scorers with his 83. Nate Thomsen finished 88th overall, shooting an 85.
