Barakat Named Co-Offensive Player of the Week

STORRS, CT (Oct. 21) - Freshman forward Brittany Barakat (Arlington, TX) was awarded BIG EAST co-offensive player of the week honors as chosen by league officials Monday afternoon.
Barakat scored two goals in the Huskies’ 3-1 win over Seton Hall. Her 12 points this season leads all UConn freshmen. She scored the game-tying goal midway through the first half when she beat the Pirates’ goaltender who was coming out for the save. Her second goal was the Huskies’ game-sealer as she was able to redirect a shot by Salla Ranta and place it to the left corner of the net.
The Huskies play two road games this week against Providence (Oct. 23) and Georgetown (Oct. 25), both games start at 3 p.m. Connecticut returns home on Sunday, October 27 to play host to Virginia Tech at 1 p.m.
