Huskies to Host Eighth-Ranked Northeastern

Storrs, CT (Oct. 15, 2002)-- The University of Connecticut field hockey team will face its seventh nationally-ranked opponent of the year on Wednesday, Oct. 16, when the Huskies host eighth-ranked Northeastern at 7 p.m. on the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
UConn is coming off a 1-1 week after the Huskies suffered a double-overtime loss (4-3) to 16th-ranked Princeton on Saturday, and defeated 14th-ranked Boston College, 1-0, in overtime on Wednesday night. The Princeton loss broke a string of seven straight wins for the Huskies who are looking to start a new win streak on Wednesday night.
Connecticut’s offense is led by sophomore Lauren Henderson (Avondale Harare, Zimbabwe) and senior Kelly Cochrane (Scarsdale, NY) who rank in the top five nationally in four categories through games of Oct. 15. Henderson is fourth in goals (15) and fifth in points (33), while Cochrane is third with 13 assists and fifth with 0.9 assists per game.
Defensively, junior Maureen Butler (Red Hook, NY) has posted four shutouts in goal for UConn and boasts a 1.40 goals against average.
