The University of Connecticut men’s soccer team, ranked No. 7 nationally, will battle No. 6 nationally-ranked University of Maryland on Saturday, October 12 at 7:00 pm at Morrone Stadium in Storrs, CT. The contest will match two offense-oriented teams, with UConn paced by leading scorer Damani Ralph and the Terrapins by Abe Thompson.
Connecticut is on a six-game win streak, and has outscored its opponents 16-4 in that span. Coming off a 2-1 win over Providence Wednesday night, the Huskies are 9-2 overall on the season heading into Saturday's tremendous challenge. Maryland enters the game with a 10-2 overall record, its best start to a season since 1968, when the Terps went on to capture a share of the NCAA Championship.
UConn’s sixth-year head coach Ray Reid will face the Terrapins for the first time since arriving at UConn. The teams last met on September 3, 1995, a 5-1 Maryland win in Storrs. In his tenth season as Maryland’s head coach, Sasho Cirovski is making a return to the state of Connecticut. He led the University of Hartford to back-to-back NCAA appearances in 1991 and 1992.
The contest kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Morrone Stadium. The game will be televised live on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) throughout the state with Bill Schweizer and Scott Gray calling the action.
Tickets are available at the gate and are priced as follows: Reserved Tickets, $8; General Admission (adult), $6; General Admission (senior citizens, youths and college students); $4; UConn Students, $2.
