Connors/Tirapelli Take "B" Doubles Bracket at Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, CT (September 30, 2001) -- The University of Connecticut women’s tennis team took the "B" doubles bracket of the Quinnipiac Invitational on Sunday with the team of junior Colleen Connors (Ormond Beach, FL) and freshman Natalie Tirapelli (St. Petersburg, FL). The two won three matches en route to the championship.
In the "A" singles bracket, freshman Whitney Simcik (Exeter, PA) fell in the semifinal round to Stephanie Petrycki of Quinnipiac, who eventually won the bracket. UConn ruled the "C" singles bracket, however, as freshman Jen LoRusso (Shoreham, NY) and Tirapelli each won three matches to put themselves in the final round against each other. The two players opted not to play out the championship.
