Huskies Fall in Semifinals of First Fall Tourney

VERNON, CT (September 24, 2001) -- The University of Connecticut softball team fared well in its first fall tournament of the year, finally falling in the semifinals to St. John's, 3-2. The Huskies played host to the 12-team NESP UConn Fall Invitational, held at the New England SportsPlex in Vernon, CT.
In pool play on Saturday, UConn came out on top of its pool, defeating AIC, 7-3, and Maine, 3-2 in 12 innings.
On Sunday, in the championship of the tournament, the Huskies fell in their first game to St. John's, 3-2. St. John's progressed to play Long Island, and LIU took that game, 2-0, to win the tournament.
The Huskies play host to another 12-team tournament this weekend at the same location. UConn will take on Holy Cross and Bryant in pool play on Saturday.
