Storrs, CT (September 10) – University of Connecticut women’s soccer team member Kristen Graczyk (Albuqueque, NM) was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Graczyk, a freshman forward from La Cueva High School, scored two goals this week as the Huskies went 2-1. Against No. 19 Massachusetts on Sept. 5, she served the game-winning assist and later netted an insurance goal in UConn’s 5-0 victory. In the game against Ohio State on Sept. 7, Graczyk recorded the Huskies’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss.
Having started in all five of UConn’s games this season, Graczyk leads the team in goals and scoring with three goals and seven points. Her first collegiate goal came in the season’s first game against No. 25 Hartford, a contest the Huskies won 2-1 in overtime.
Graczyk and the rest of the Connecticut women’s soccer team will be back in action on Friday, September 14 at Morrone Stadium. The Huskies will take on nationally-ranked Florida at 7:30 p.m.
