UConn Women's Tennis Cruises Past Sacred Heart

Sophomore Trinell Russel (Voorheesville, N.Y.) led the Huskies' sweep over the Pioneers, by defeating Jessica Magri in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. Colleen Connors (Ormond Beach, Fla.), Christine Vorvis (Southport, Conn.), Melanie Polanco (New Haven, Conn.), Katie Olsen (Gales Ferry, Conn.) and Valerie Morse (Mansfield, Mass.) collected the additional singles victories of the day for UConn.
In doubles competition, Russel paired with Connors to earn their 10th win this season in the No. 1 spot. The Russel-Connors connection downed Jessica Magri and Jeanne Sampson of Sacred Heart, 8-5.
Connecticut improves to 8-8 overall and will next host Georgetown in a BIG EAST dual match on Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m. in Storrs.
