Women's Tennis Falls to Villanova

The Glastonbury, Connecticut native is in his ninth season as the Huskies' mentor and has compiled a 100-80 overall record with the men's program and also serves as the head coach for the women's program.
In men's doubles competition, UConn swept all flights against the Wildcats on the combinations of Mike Furman-Joe Lang at No. 1, Andy Sweatt-Luke Grimshaw at No. 2 and Max Zubatsky-Bryan Adinolfi at No. 3. The same could be said in singles play, with the Huskies dropping only the top singles match which was decided in a close third-set tiebreaker.
On the women's side, sophomore Trinell Russel(Voorheesville, N.Y.) defeated Julie Darne of VU in a lengthy two-set match, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 1. She would partner up with sophomore Colleen Connors (Ormond Beach, Fla.) to take down Darne and Kelly McAndrew, 9-8, in the top doubles spot. The Huskies would drop to Villanova, 6-1, despite the wins turned in by Russel and Connors.
Senior co-captain Luke Grimshaw (Frederick, Md.), co-captain Bryan Adinolfi (Hamden, Conn.), captain Christine Vorvis (Southport, Conn.), Lynn Borowiec (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Valerie Morse (Mansfield, Mass.) participated in their last match for the Huskies on Senior Day.
Connecticut concludes its season with the men finishing 10-11 overall, 3-3 BIG EAST and the women finishing 9-11 overall, 1-4 BIG EAST.
