UConn to Host Detroit Sunday in NIT Second Round

STORRS, CONNECTICUT (March 15, 2001)-The University of Connecticut menÂ's basketball team will host the University of Detroit Mercy on Sunday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in a National Invitation Tournament (NIT) Second Round game.
UConn (20-11) advanced to NIT Second Round play with a 72-65 win over South Carolina. Detroit (23-10) posted a 68-49 NIT First Round road win at Bradley.
NIT Second Round reserved tickets, priced at $25, will be available beginning on Friday (March 16) at 10 a.m. at TicketMaster outlets throughout the state, by calling TicketMaster at (860) 525-4500 or (203) 624-0033, or in person at the UConn Athletic Ticket Office in Storrs.
UConn Club donors and Husky season ticket holders, who pre- ordered NIT Second Round tickets, may pick up tickets on either Saturday (March 17) or Sunday (March 18) beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium (adjacent to Gampel Pavilion).
"The UConn fans at Gampel Pavilion for our NIT First Round win were great," said UConn head basketball coach Jim Calhoun. "They were loud, they helped us, they were terrific. Hopefully, a lot more of our loyal Husky fans will be joining us in Gampel Pavilion for our second round game."
