UConn Falls to Rutgers in Women's Tennis

In the top singles match, Carissa Sommerlad of Rutgers defeated UConn sophomore Trinell Russel (Voorheesville, N.Y.) in two sets, 6-3, 6-0. Sophomore Colleen Connors (Ormond Beach, Fla.) followed at No. 2 singles, dropping to the Scarlet Knights' Jennifer Hellier, 6-3, 6-3.
Connecticut (4-5 overall, 0-2 BIG EAST) returns to action on Feb. 20 at Central Connecticut in New Britain, Conn. The match versus CCSU is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
