Marshall Tallies 200th Win as UConn Tops AIC, 5-2

UConn defenseman Eric Nelson (Big Lake, MN) scored the first period's only tally at the 9:00 mark with an assist from Matt Owens (Framingham, MA). AIC evened the score four minutes into the second stanza on a shot from Bryan Bassler. The Huskies then took the lead for good 1:20 later on a Trent Landry (Somerset, WI) tally with help from Anders Johnson (North Kingston, RI) and Charles Ridolf (West Warwick, RI).
Michael Goldkind (Silver Spring, MD) gave Connecticut the 3-1 lead at the 7:13 mark of the third period. Ciro Longobardi (Wallingford, CT) and Kurt Kamienski (Pittsfield, MA) assisted on the goal. AIC brought the score within one at 14:40 of the stanza on an Aaron Arnett goal. Ron D'Angelo (Massapequa, NY) netted the next Husky tally at the 16:17 mark on assists from Owens and Eric Goclowski (Hamden, CT). Johnson scored an empty net goal with ten seconds remaining in regulation off a pass from Ridolf.
Jason Carey (Oakdale, MN) earned the win in net for UConn stopping 26 shots on goal, while Chance Thede recorded 35 saves in goal for the Yellow Jackets. Connecticut outshot AIC, 40-28.
UConn will host Quinnipiac University in a MAAC match-up on Saturday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the UConn Ice Arena.
