UConn Women's Tennis Shuts Out Central Connecticut

The Huskies played with a different lineup in singles and doubles competition for the sweep. Sophomore Trinell Russel (Voorheesville, N.Y.) remained at the top spot, defeating Rose Anderson of CCSU, 6-1, 6-2, while junior Anne Dewberry (Glastonbury, Conn.) stepped into second singles with a win against Eleanor Flower, 6-3, 6-1.
In doubles play, Russel combined with senior Christine Vorvis (Southport, Conn.) at No. 1 to defeat the Blue Devils' Anderson and Flower, 8-1. Junior Laurel Lebby (Pepper Pike, Ohio) and senior Valerie Morse (Mansfield, Mass.) made their first appearance in spring competition with an 8-3 victory over Heather McGaughan and Katie Andersen at No. 2.
Connecticut improves to 5-5 overall and will be back in action on March 4 with a doubleheader scheduled against Army at 5 p.m. and Long Island at 1 p.m. in West Point, N.Y.
